Puma boosted by growth in women’s segment
Sportswear manufacturer Puma recorded revenue of €3.6 billion in 2016, a 10% increase on the previous year.

The company said this growth was led by the “continued strong visibility” of its women’s category, which includes its ongoing collaboration with music superstar Rihanna and the launch of the “Do You” communication platform with model and actress Cara Delevingne (pictured). It added that the strong performance of Puma athletes at UEFA Euro 2016 and at the Rio Olympic Games also contributed.

Footwear was the main driver of growth, with sales increasing 12.6% to €1.6 billion. Apparel sales grew 5.9% to €1.3 billion and revenue from accessories jumped 5.9% to €667 million.

Bjørn Gulden, CEO of PUMA, said the performance in 2016 confirmed that the brand’s strategy has been right. He added that he was confident that there would be further revenue growth in 2017.
