Arc’teryx among EOCA’s 2017 Conservation Champions

05/07/2017
The European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) has named Arc’teryx, Ortlieb and Snugpak as its 2017 Conservation Champions, an award it hands out to members that have “gone the extra mile” to support conservation.

They are being recognised for having “taken the initiative to raise extra money for and awareness of conservation”, EOCA said.

EOCA explained that Canadian outdoor brand Arc’teryx donated 5% of all European online sales over €500 on Cyber Monday in December 2016 to EOCA. It said this raised a “significant amount of money” for the association. It used the same model to raise further funds on Earth Day in April 2017, and will use it again in the future.

Germany-based waterproof bag company Ortlieb regularly donates their products to the Conservation Fundraiser, EOCA said, which helps to raise money. It is also involved in finding projects for EOCA to consider for funding. In 2017, EOCA explained that Ortlieb made a “further contribution” to one of the winning projects.

The final Conservation Champion for 2017 is UK sleeping bag manufacturer Snugpak, which regularly nominates conservation projects and is involved in promoting and supporting them. It also works to raise awareness of all the projects on an international scale.
