14/06/2018
A public vote, which the group said reached 36 million people, selected the first three projects. They are:
• 10,000 Native trees for Froxán Community, Spain;
• Protecting manta rays and whale sharks, Mozambique;
• Enhancing and Safeguarding Torres del Paine’s ‘O’ Circuit , Chile.
Following the public vote, EOCA members chose two projects to fund. They are:
• Plastic management in the Gulf of Honduras;
• Kozara protection and restoration, Bosnia Herzegovina.
In addition, four EOCA members have chosen to fund or to continue funding projects themselves. They are:
• ECO Relief Lesvos, Greece – chosen and funded by Original Buff;
• Conservation of Saaimaa Ringed Seals – funded for the last three years by Pomoca;
• Restoring Mangroves and Livelihoods, Indonesia – funded for the last 2 years by Keen;
• Fix the Fells, UK – funded by Smartwool.
Full details of the nine projects which will receive funding can be found on the EOCA website.
