EOCA turns its attention to plastic waste

15/02/2019
Following the success of its project to raise enough funds to plant two million trees around the world, the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) has announced that the next issue that it has in its sights is plastic pollution.

To this end, it has launched a new initiative called Plastic Free: Mountain to Sea.

Through this project, EOCA will work with its members and with the European outdoor industry to clean up plastic waste from a range of locations. As the name suggests, this will span from the summits of mountains to the shoes of the seas.

It will also work to educate and inspire outdoor enthusiasts to get involved to combat this serious issue. In addition, attention will be paid to helping companies reduce their use of single-use plastics.

The organisation has said its next round of conversation project funding, which will take place in spring, will be focused on those carrying out waste clean-up projects around the world. It will aim to support projects that have long lasting impacts and that change attitudes and behaviour.

As with its ‘2 Million Tree Campaign’, a fundraiser will be launched to enable the public and brands to raise money for and awareness of a specific project from EOCA’s current funding round.
