EOCA launches tradeshow plastic pledge

The European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) has asked exhibitors at this summer’s OutDoor by ISPO tradeshow (June 30-July 4) to sign up to a pledge to reduce, and perhaps even eliminate, the amount of single-use plastic they use at the show.

This appeal comes following the launch of EOCA’s ‘Plastic Free: Mountain to Sea’ campaign, through which it is working to clean up plastic waste from a range of locations.

The organisation is aiming to encourage as many of its members as possible to sign up for its ‘Plastic Pledge’ in an effort to make tradeshows more sustainable. Non-members are also invited to get on board.

Unveiling the pledge, Tanya Bascombe, EOCA joint general manager, said: “We are really excited to be getting the outdoor industry thinking and committing to reducing their single-use plastic at tradeshows in this way. The Pledge commits people to providing sources of drinking water, not to use or provide single-use plastic on their stands and to provide reusables for drinks and food, under the banner: Bring it. Use it. Repeat.”
