Lenzing opens new centre of excellence in Indonesia
Cellulosic fibre producer Lenzing has established a new centre of excellence at its site in Purwakarta, Indonesia. It started operating at the end of 2018.

The company said this new facility will allow it to “intensify its cooperation” with partners along the value chain, meaning it can increase its efforts to conduct joint research & development on new yarns.

The centre of excellence will also have laboratory and analytical facilities for conducting trials and tests on various types of fibres and yarns.

Robert van de Kerkhof, Lenzing’s chief commercial officer, has said: “The proximity to important Asian customers and partners creates a new dimension in our service offering. We can react more quickly to current trends and handle a broad spectrum of aspects on location relating to the application with our full range of fibres as well as unique fibre blends in collaboration with our supply chain partners.”

The launch of the centre of excellence in Indonesia follows on from the opening in September 2017 of an Application Innovation Centre (AIC) in Hong Kong. Lenzing has said that with the two facilities it has “brought full fibre to fashion capabilities to Asia”.
