Lenzing to establish design hub in Singapore

08/02/2019
Austrian fibre manufacturer Lenzing will partner with Singapore’s Textile and Fashion Federation (TaFF) in order to give local designers a hub to present themselves and to make its Tencel brand of wood-based fibres more accessible to consumers in the country.

Making the announcement, Lenzing’s CEO Stefan Doboczky said: “Our cooperation with fashion designers is an important element in showcasing the sustainability promise of our flagship brand Tencel to consumers.”

He went on to describe Singapore as “a strategic hub” for Lenzing in Asia. He also expressed his hope that the group could contribute to “taking Singapore’s fashion scene to greater heights”.

Events promoting Singapore’s designers will be held at the Design Orchard, a new building located on the site of a former butterfly farm. The Tencel Fabric Library will also be housed there, showing Lenzing marketing materials and offering support to customers and partners in the joint development of garments.
