Puma’s revenue jumped 15% in Q1

Its apparel division led this growth, increasing its revenue by 26.9% to €468.4 million. Sales of footwear were worth €639.3 million, up 9.3% year-on-year. Puma said there was strong performance in many categories, including running and training, teamsport, motorsport and golf.
In terms of regional performance, there was growth across the brand’s three key regions. Sales in the EMEA region increased 5.7% and there was growth of 16.3% in the Americas. Asia/Pacific was the stand-out performer, banking a 28.6% increase in sales.
Discussing the results, Bjørn Gulden, Puma chief executive, said: “The first quarter of 2019 was the best quarter Puma has ever seen. It has been a very good start into the year. The growth in all regions and all product divisions shows that we continue to make progress. Even if we have nine more months to go and despite a lot of uncertainty in the market, we feel comfortable that we will achieve our guidance for the full year.”
