Denim maker pushes for greener supply chains

Turkish denim manufacturer Isko held a two-day seminar at one of its Italian bases to help brands better understand fabrics and finishes.

Companies including Timberland, Diesel and Guess attended the talks in Castelfranco Veneto and a tour of the ‘laundry’ of washing partner Everest, where they learnt more about the latest dyeing and finishing techniques.

Moreno de Angelis, Isko washing research manager, shared his longstanding experience in the treatments area. He manages Iksoteca, an R&D lab based in San Benedetto del Tronto, where the team create new denim washes and finishes that are used by the group and its partners.

Rosey Cortazzi, Isko global marketing director, said: “Working together is never been so important, we really need to join forces if we want to be able to create a better future for tomorrow’s generations.

“Sharing knowledge is key and these events represents a good way to allow our clients to learn more about not only the products they buy, but also the industry that produces them and how the whole process works.

“Ultimately, accountability and transparency is what will lead to greater demands to provide concrete facts and figures pushing everyone to commit to establishing greener supply chains.”

Isko’s Turkey-based manufacturing plant has a production capacity of 250 million metres from 1,500 looms.
