Under Armour names new CEO

US sports brand Under Armour has appointed Stephanie Linnartz (pictured) president and chief executive in place of its interim leader and chief operating officer, Colin Browne.

Ms Linnartz, who will also join the Baltimore-headquartered company’s board of directors, is set to officially take up her new post on February 27. She has served as president of hospitality group Marriott International since February 2021 and has been a board member of both North American home improvement retailer Home Depot and the College of the Holy Cross, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree, since 2017.

The incoming chief executive also possesses a Master of Business Administration from the College of William and Mary and previously pursued postgraduate studies at the Norwegian School of Economics.

More recently, Ms Linnartz was named to the Washington Business Journal’s Power 100 class of 2022 and made Forbes’ inaugural CEO Next list in 2021. She is also a member of the socially minded Fortune CEO Initiative for global corporate leaders. Her latest appointment was made following the recommendation of a committee of independent members of Under Armour’s board of directors.

“I look forward to leading this amazing company into its next chapter, delivering for athletes, teammates, customers and shareholders,” Ms Linnartz said.

“Under Armour is an iconic brand with a huge opportunity ahead. This company has immense energy and excitement, and I am committed to building growth while maintaining operational excellence."
