50th anniversary PV celebrates return of Asian visitors
The 50th anniversary edition of Paris-based textiles trade show Première Vision, which was held July 4 to 6, attracted more than 25,000 visitors, of whom 17,000 were international.

The figure was 7% higher than the same show last year.

Organisers said 2022 was a year of recovery for the creative fashion industry and 2023 was marked by an unstable global economy impacting the entire sector, with consumer spending under pressure.

However, Gilles Lasbordes, director general of Première Vision, said this edition confirmed the gradual - but tangible - return of visitors from Asia, and China in particular.

Desolina Suter, PV’s fashion director, added: “We decoded three trends for Autumn-Winter 24-25: solar vision - symbolically capitalizing on a powerful, renewable energy source; augmented elegance - producing higher-quality fabrics for garments that last and thus reduce consumption; and natural inspiration and the digital medium - drawing inspiration from nature for a very modern, present-day aesthetic.”

PV will launch the Better Way initiative, which will highlight exhibitors’ sustainable initiatives through pictograms, at PV Denim in Milan on November 22 and 23, and Première Vision Paris in February 2024.
