ASF 4.0 raises funds for future Portuguese megafactory
Four years after inaugurating a first fully automated Advanced Shoe Factory 4.0 (ASF 4.0) in Ardoix, France, the Chamatex-owned company has launched a fund-raising round to finance the construction of a larger facility in the north of Portugal.

The A Series round has raised close to €10 million from French judoka Teddy Riner, former Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares along with other Portuguese investors, with Chamatex also contributing to the investment backed by Yotta Capital and French public investment bank BPI.

In 2026, in the first phase of the project, the facility will be operating two production lines with a capacity to produce some 500,000 pairs per year, and create an expected 210 jobs. Two other development phases are planned for 2028 and 2030 with the goal of reaching a total capacity of 1.5 million pairs annually with some 580 employees. The new facility will be starting production in mid-2026 mainly for Salomon, with other international brands coming onboard from 2027 onwards.

In the first four years of operations at the ASF 4.0 facility in France, it manufactured more than 150,000 pairs for its three major partners, Salomon, Millet and Babolat, along with upstart sneaker brand 555. The company announced sales of €2.9 million in 2024.

“Today, we launched ASF 4.0 Portugal, which is located in Barcelos, north of Porto. The factory and its automated processes are being finalised, recruitment has begun, and the first production runs are scheduled for July 2026. It is a huge satisfaction to expand in Europe, and all the more so with a high-level athlete, along with brand, industry and financial partners,” commented Gilles Réguillon, CEO of ASF 4.0 and Chamatex Group.
