Yue Yuen’s sales rise 5% in July

The world’s largest branded athletic shoe-maker has reported an almost 5% sales rise in July compared with the same month last year.

Yue Yuen, which makes shoes for Nike, adidas, Reebok, Asics, New Balance, Puma, Converse, Merrell, and Timberland, had July sales of $694,870.

However, the results last year were affected by strikes in some Chinese factories, in which “tens of thousands” walked out.

The group employed production and human resources managers in March after smaller strikes over pensions this year.

Pou Sheng, a sportswear retailer also owned by Taiwanese giant Pou Chen, saw a July sales increase of 14% to $168,692.

Pou Chen produces 300 million pairs of shoes per year; around 20% of the wholesale value of the global branded athletic and casual footwear market.
