EVO is ideal for sportswear, says the company, because it is ultra-light, stretchy and breathable. It's also quick-drying, non-iron and offers natural thermal and bacteriostatic properties. The castor oil seeds are not suitable for consumption and grow in arid regions not suited to other forms of agriculture.
Fulgar will be presenting the fibre at Germany-based trade show ISPO Munich from January 24 to 27, joined by FOV, Sweden-based producer of woven fabric specialized in high-tech fabrics production.
FOV is launching four EVO-based fabrics, one of which has been selected for Ispo Textrend 2016.
Italian fabric company Sofileta will present three new fabrics made with EVO and dyed in-house. It says they are idea for running, skiwear, bikewear and football apparel.
Founded in the 1970s at Castel Goffredo in the heart of Italy's hosiery district, Fulgar now boasts one of Europe's largest nylon 6.6 yarn factories. It opened production centres in Sri Lanka in 2003 and Serbia in 2007.
