Lenzing outlines its sustainability strategy
24/04/2017
Stefan Doboczky, CEO of the Lenzing Group, explained: “The concept of sustainability is an integral feature of our Group strategy. This is because Lenzing is in the unique position to be able to operate a truly circular business model. We produce functional, aesthetic and emotional products by utilizing the raw material wood from CO2 and sunlight. At the end of their useful lives, our fibres are biodegradable and thus once again serve as the basis for new plant growth.”
The circular economy is a central part of the strategy. It is based on the three “P” cornerstones – people, planet and profit. It includes the sustainable procurement of wood and a responsible handing of water, the company said. Other key features are the decarbonisation of production to combat climate change and the promotion of sustainable innovations to replace resource-intensive, environmentally harmful products.
Lenzing also announced that it will continue to work closely with the value chain to jointly develop and implement sustainability solutions.
