Tencel fabrics are “perfect” for laser finishing

The two companies recently conducted a study to demonstrate the benefits of finishing Tencel fabrics with laser technology.
“Effective laser marking requires quick and effective dye removal, clear image definition, sharp image outline and smooth grey scale transition,” explained Begoña Garcia, senior technologist at Jeanologia. “Fabrics that contain Tencel have the above desired characteristics and are the perfect fabrics to work with laser.”
Austria-based Lenzing have been making efforts to increase production of its Tencel fibre. In August 2016, it announced it would invest €100 million by 2018 to boost capacity at its domestic facilities. It followed this in December with a promise to invest $300 million in a new production plant in Alabama, US, which will produce 90,000 of Tencel each year.
