Better product mix boosts Lenzing

Cellulosic fibre producer Lenzing reported revenue of €2.13 billion in 2016, an 8% increase on the previous year.

Profit before tax was €428.3 million, 47.6% higher year-on-year. The company attributed this to higher selling prices for all of its fibre products, a better product mix and a slight rise in revenue.

The volume of Lenzing’s total fibre sales was 978,000 tonnes, 1.4% higher than in 2015. Specialty fibres made up 42% of total revenue, up from 40.5% the previous year. 71% of its fibre revenue was generated by the textile fibre business, with the rest derived from non-woven applications.

“The Lenzing Group looks back at a very successful financial year 2016,” said Stefan Doboczky, CEO of the company. “In a very positive market environment for wood-based cellulose fibres we successfully expanded our market position in specialty fibres.”
