Outdoor Retailer owner agrees deal for SIA Snow Show

Snowsports Industries America (SIA) has reached an agreement to sell its Snow Show trade event to Emerald Expositions, the company in charge of organising Outdoor Retailer.

The $16.7 million deal was revealed in a letter sent by SIA to its members. A meeting of members will be held on May 24 at SIA’s headquarters in Utah to decide if final approval should be given.

In the letter, SIA said the sale “ensures the best path for a vibrant, successful show.” It added that Emerald has the capabilities to bring together the outdoor and snow sports industries under one roof, describing this as “a natural evolution”. 

According to reports in the US media, approval of the deal would see the creation of a new event, Outdoor Retailer Snow Show, which will take place for the first time in January 2018.

Emerald and SIA have declined to officially comment on the deal.
