New water-repellent stretch fabric from Teijin Frontier
31/08/2018
The fabric is designed primarily for trousers and outer-clothing garments that require material of medium thickness. It is based on the company’s existing water-repellent fabric, with the addition of a convex structure with high surface tension that allows water to run off its surface.
According to Teijin, the fabric is able to stretch by 10% and it maintains its water-repellent properties when stretched due to its flexible structure.
Teijin plans to bring it to market from the beginning of the 2019 spring/summer season. It is targeting annual sales of $9 million for this product by the fiscal year ending March 2021.
