Teijin's latest laminated material addresses weight limitations

30/11/2017
Japan’s Teijin Frontier has developed a polyester high-gauge knitting material laminated with a breathable film for spring/summer 2019 sportswear ranges.

It says conventional double-layered knitting materials using crimped thread have limitations in terms of thickness, but its new dyeing and lamination technologies can produce a high-gauge knitting material using non-crimped thread.

Teijin’s new material is thin, lightweight and compact as well as stretchable, form-stable and moisture-permeable.

It is now exploring two avenues for the material: a high-function type using PASMO high-tenacity polyester and an eco-friendly type using recycled polyester.

Annual sales of the product are expected to reach 300,000 metres by the fiscal year ending in March 2021.
