Teijin Aramid invests in Dutch aramid fibre facility

14/07/2017
The aramid fibres division of high performance fibre developer Teijin is to invest in new spinning technology to increase production capacity for its para-aramid Twaron fibre at its facility in Emmen, the Netherlands.

The company explained that the demand for the fibre is increasing and that this new technology will allow it to satisfy the needs of the market. It expects the spinning capacity expansion to begin in the first quarter of 2019.

Gert Frederiks, CEO & president of Teijin Aramid, said: “This investment underscores our ambition to produce and deliver sustainable and cost-efficient products to the market and reinforces our position as global market leader. It will enable us to meet the growing market demand and simultaneously implement the latest technology.”

Teijin merged all its aramid activities into one business unit in April. Teijin Aramid is responsible for all aramid and polyethylene products the company is producing, developing and selling. It has production facilities in Thailand, Taiwan and The Netherlands.
