Nike continues girls’ empowerment plans in China
As part of its Boundless Girls initiative, designed to inspire increased engagement in sporting activities, US sports company Nike has teamed up with China-based designer Susan Fang to build a sustainability minded basketball court at Gucheng Elementary School in the country’s Yunnan province.
Expanding on plans to recycle pre-worn athletic footwear on-site at another recently developed “eco-sports field”, also in Yunnan, the brand has employed its new Grind technology to construct the court with material from post-consumer sports shoes.
The business reported revenues of $51.2 billion for the 12 months ended May 31 back in June, representing year-on-year growth of 10%.
