Skins supports Sahara marathon challenge

Australian compression-wear brand Skins is supporting former England Rugby Union international David Barnes and two colleagues as they attempt to complete the Marathon des Sables in April and raise £100,000 for charity.

Mr Barnes, Martin Hewitt and Stuart Doughty (pictured) will fight the rigours of a gruelling landscape, intense heat and inevitable fatigue during a demanding multi-stage adventure across 250km of the Sahara Desert where temperatures will reach around 50°C.

They will be wearing the new Skins garment, Coldblack, which offers double sun protection to stay up to 5°C cooler.

The technology reduces the amount of heat absorption normally associated with dark colours by reflecting both visible and invisible rays of sunlight.

The money raised will be shared amongst three charities: Help for Heroes, Bath Rugby Foundation and the rugby player’s charity, Restart.
