The technical facilitator behind Team Italy’s relatively slimmed down look during the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics Games in Beijing has been revealed.

Several articles from the official EA7 Emporio Armani unforms worn by the Italian sporting delegation throughout the Games, all of which were designed by Piacenza-born Giorgio Armani, in part owe their thermal insulation to Thindown, first launched by Nipi (Natural Insulation Products Inc) in 2015

According to the manufacturer’s website, all of its products are either made from Responsible Down Standard-approved down which is a by-product of the food industry and/or recycled down which meets Global Recycled Standard criteria. As Thindown products are not quilted, the company promises zero seeping. The material is delivered in rolls (pictured).

South Korean sources have suggested that Nipi’s patented “totally made in Italy” real down Thindown was also incorporated in Chinese athletes’ Anta-branded uniforms.
