Andar wins national ESG award

Athletic leisure brand Andar, based in Seoul, has been named ESG Company of the Year in the athleisure category at this year’s Korea Consumer Brand Awards, in recognition of its environmental, social and governance achievements.

The label's chief executive, Park Hyo-young (pictured right), took to the stage at the Korea Press Center to receive the award on behalf of her team in mid-November. Andar took the top spot after research by the Korea Brand Evaluation Institute found it to have significant growth potential due to demonstrably high levels of consumer trust and preference. Earlier this season, the brand ventured into footwear and released a shapewear-inspired line of sports apparel based on Lycra’s cooling Beauty fabric.

Local media cited the Andar's use of Lenzing’s wood-based Tencel modal fibres and recycled polyester from post-consumer plastic bottles as evidence of its more sustainable approach to materials. Ms Park said that the label would continue to release “eco-friendly” collections in her acceptance speech.
