Microban and CiCLO link up

Microban International, a maker of odour control solutions for textiles, and CiCLO, whose technology allows synthetic yarns to become biodegradable, have teamed up to combine their innovative and sustainable technologies.

This partnership, the two partners said, allows manufacturers to offer textiles that meet consumer demands for durability and freshness and align with growing environmental concerns. Products treated with Microban’s antimicrobial finishes help products stay cleaner and last longer. CiCLO’s technology is said to make synthetic fibres behave more like wool in their end-of-life process, reducing the persistence of microplastic fibres in the environment. CiCLO is a part of Intrinsic Advanced Materials, a joint venture between Parkdale Advanced Materials and Intrinsic Textiles Group. Its patented technology has been tested for safety and efficacy by ASTM International and is ECO PASSPORT certified by OEKO-TEX. Over 100 million lbs (or 45,000 tonnes) of CiCLO products have been produced, the company said.

“Microban and CiCLO Technology are a perfect match in our shared commitment to innovation and delivering customer solutions,” commented Brian Aylward, business development manager for Microban’s textile division. “Together, we’re providing an ideal solution for brands and retailers seeking high-performance textiles that also meet sustainability goals, from apparel to bedding and upholstery.”
