Sportswear manufacturer Nike has extended its partnership with Spanish football club FC Barcelona, which was due to end in June 2018. The two organisations first joined forces in 1998.

According to local media reports, the ten-year kit manufacturing deal could be worth as much as €155m (£120m) per season, significantly more than the current arrangement with the Spanish champions and the £60 million-a-year deal Nike has reportedly agreed with English side Chelsea.

“We are excited by this new agreement and are confident that we’ll be able to celebrate continued sporting successes together,” said Josep Bartomeu, president of FC Barcelona.

“Our deep relationship with FC Barcelona extends Nike's leadership position in football and we are excited by the opportunity to further grow the world’s most global sport,” added Trevor Edwards, president of the Nike Brand.
