Two brands unite for joint ski design
Two Amer Sports-owned outdoor brands, Germany’s Atomic and Canadian counterpart Arc’teryx, have united on a ski design that “highlights the synergy between two brands”.
The idea for the collaboration came from Arc’teryx’s Grottoflage (a take on camouflage) collection.
James Fairbank, Atomic’s vice-president of marketing, said: “We thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be cool to create a ski that complements this?’ The alignment between our brands’ craftsmanship and maker DNA made the idea irresistible.”
He also noted the similarities between Atomic’s ski factory in Altenmarkt and Arc’teryx’s Vancouver manufacturing facility.
The Maverick 115 CTI is created from both wood and metal to reduce environmental impact.
Arc’teryx provided the Grottoflage pattern, and Atomic’s ski graphics team used spot varnish and matte glossy techniques to bring the design to life. “We wanted the branding to be subtle yet striking,” added Fairbank. “When the light catches it, the details pop, giving it depth and personality.”
