Obstacles as China’s textile firms seek to restart production

Textile and apparel manufacturers in China want to resume production following the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions there, but the China National Textile and Apparel Council has said that many companies are finding it difficult to do so.

In a statement at the end of March, the organisation said labour shortages, logistical difficulties and increased shipping costs were the three main obstacles in textile companies’ path as they seek to restart production.

It also said some firms are facing insufficient market demand.
